What's next after you have you have obtained your PPL (H) :
 

Type-Rating:
Having obtained your licence, conversion courses are available to fly other helicopter types. Type ratings can be obtained by flying a minimum of five additional hours and completing a flight test.

Commercial Pilots Licence:

A Private Pilots Licence (H) will only entitle you to fly with passengers for private purposes, you are required to hold a Commercial Pilots Licence if you wish to work in the industry.  If you are interested in becoming a Commercial Pilot, Blue Star Helicopters can help you realise your goal. You will require a Class 1 Medical which can be obtained through the Mater Aeromedical Centre in Dublin and will entail the following:

  • Completion of Application Forms
  • Ophthalmology Examination
  • Electrocardiograph (E.C.G.)
  • Chest X-Ray
  • Spirometry (pulmonary function tests)
  • Audiogram and Examination by an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant
  • Bloods to include Heamoglobin and Cholesterol
  • General medical examination, to include height, weight, blood pressure, urine analysis and full physical examination by the Aeromedical Examiner

Self – Fly Hire / Hour Building:
After you have obtained your pilots licence, helicopters are available for you to hire. Should you wish to purchase or operate your own machine we are ready to offer you practical advice and guidance.
